PlayPlay, a marketing video creation platform used by the likes of Dell, Clarins, and Google, has raised $55 million in fresh funds.

The Paris-based startup, which was founded in 2017, claims its platform makes producing videos as easy as using Powerpoint through a drag-and-drop interface, layout suggestions, and automatic subtitling. Marketing teams can use PlayPlay’s tech to develop clips for use on social media, external communication, and human resources.

Users can choose from a range of templates and add their own text, while PlayPlay manages any animations and special effects.

PlayPlay issues its software based on a subscription license basis with prices starting at $500 a month per user, which gives them access to a library of templates and video features. This also helps them to cut down on outsourcing costs for video production and distribution.

“Video content is booming in B2C and now B2B, but companies are struggling to scale their video curation process,” cofounder and CEO Thibaut Machet told Insider.

The Series B round was led by New York-based venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners, which has invested in fintech unicorns Checkout.com and N26, with Balderton Capital also participating.

PlayPlay “ticked a lot of boxes for investors” as a B2B SaaS company said Machet. The PlayPlay chief said getting a US investor on board was “strategic” as the company wants to accelerate the expansion of its services into the country.

Now, it’s looking to make the creator economy more accessible for B2B companies and enterprises. “More enterprises want to be autonomous with their content. Our vision is that more and more people will become creators, and we want to be a part of it,” Machet added.
