Cipher Skin, the futuristic startup using wraparound sensors to gather data, recently won $5 million in a Series A funding round backed by Draper Associates, an investor in SpaceX.
The firm, which is based in Denver, Colorado, has created a sensor-covered mesh, which can be wrapped around things of all shapes as sizes, from human limbs to bridges and pipes, collecting data on everything from temperature through to density and internal pressure.

“If you think of data as the DNA of the physical world, we are mapping it at scale” said Cipher Skin COO Dr Shaka Bahadu adding that this could potentially transform how industries can tackle major problems.
Alongside Draper Associates, which has also previously invested in Skype and Tesla, the company’s Series A was backed by the Boyett Group, Tribe Capital and TKC Capital
